There is NO Burn Ban in effect at this time. Permits are issued without charge at Station 40 (401 Washington Ave. S.E. in the City of Orting).

Outdoor Burning Regulations
General Regulations

All fires measuring over 3 foot by 3 foot require a burning permit. Permits are issued at Station 18-3 during normal business hours Monday-Friday.

You MAY burn natural, seasoned vegetation such as brush, pruned branches, stumps, etc.

You MAY NOT burn cardboard, milled lumber, garbage, etc.

All fires must be attended at all times and have a water source available.

Burning barrels are illegal.

Certain areas of the Fire District have been declared permanent NO BURNING areas. If you are in doubt, please contact us and we will determine if you are in an area that does not allow burning.
Before you burn anything outside, please contact us to get a burn permit and to find out if a burn ban is in effect.
Tips to reduce your risk of brush and grass fires during dry conditions
1) Remove dead or overhanging branches 2) Remove leaf accumulations from your yard 3) Remove leaf clutter from your roof and gutters 4) Keep lawns neatly trimmed 5) Remove "ladder fuels". Prune tree limbs so the lowest is 6'-10' from the ground 6) Refuel garden equipment carefully 7) Prune bushes and shrubs regularly 8) Provide firefighter access to greenbelt areas
